• Give your cat fresh water every day. You do not need to give your cat milk.
  
• Feed your cat food that is made from beef, chicken, or fish.
  
• Choose a cat food that is right for your cat's age and weight. For example, if you have a kitten be sure to buy kitten food.
  
• Keep the litter box clean. Cats like it fresh!
  
• Keep string-like objects like tinsel, needles, threads and rubber bands out of reach. These things could hurt your cat.
  
• Take your cat to the vet (animal doctor) for vaccines so it will not get some deadly disease.

• Keep all electric cords out of reach or covered by a chew-proof guard. Puppies and kittens will chew on anything.
• Don't leave any medicines on tables, chairs, or in open cabinets.
• Cover your outside pool or pond. Many heavily-coated pets may be unable to swim when their coats are soaking wet.
• Keep pets away from ice-covered ponds and lakes. Dogs may wander onto ice too thin to support their weight.
• Keep all painting supplies in closed cabinets.

Animals trust you to provide care for the rest of their lives. This is a big responsibility but it is very rewarding.

All pets need a best friend -- someone who will spend time with them and take care of them for the rest of their lives.
